Lady Wolfpack Season in Review

Completing its second year in operation, the Hartford Junior Lady Wolfpack finished its overall season yesterday with the U13 (2004) team placing sixth at the National U14 Tier 2 Tournament in Marlboro, MA.  After winning the Connecticut Hockey Conference U14 Tier 2 State Tournament and the New England District U14 Tier 2 Regional Tournament, the Wolfpack was the only true U13 team in attendance at the National Tournament.  Playing in front of numerous Prep and College Coaches throughout the tournament, the U13s lost to eventual champion  North Shore Vipers by one goal.  After winning the U12 Tier 1 State Tournament last year and the U14 Tier 2 State Tournament and Regional Championship this season, the expectations for this team at the U14 Tier 1 level next season are high.

This season also saw significant successes at the U12 level where the Wolfpack U12 Tier 1 team won the Connecticut Hockey Conference U12 Tier 1 State Tournament and was the de facto New England Regional District Champion for the U12 Tier 1 Division.  The team also placed second in the Super Regional U12 Tier 1 Regional Tournament, playing against U12 Tier 1 teams from Massachusetts.  With a strong returning core from this year’s team, the Wolfpack’s U12 Tier 1 team for next season is expected to achieve similar success.

The Wolfpack’s U19 team continued to experience success both on an off the ice.  With nine college commitments from this year’s team, our U19 team has placed 31 players into the college hockey ranks since its formation four years ago.  With a significant number of player moving to the U19 team from our U14 Tier 1 team, this path of success and the placement of Wolfpack players into college hockey is expected to continue.

With the Wolfpack’s tryouts concluded for the U12 Division, the Wolfpack will be fielding a U12 Tier 1 and U12 Tier 2 team next season.  With the numbers registered for tryouts at the U14 Division, the Wolfpack are expected to roster U14 Teams at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels, with the potential for a third U14 team.

The amenities offered by the Wolfpack, to include our year round player development program and player exposure plan, ensure all Jr Lady Wolfpack players receive the maximum development opportunities and the opportunities to showcase their skills and talents.

Tryouts for our U14 and U19 Divisions begin this weekend.  Please visit our website at www.hartfordjryouthwolfpack.com for information concerning our Hartford Junior Lady Wolfpack Program and tryout information.  Be the best, Joint the Pack!

Lady Wolfpack's Rebecca Taylor commits to Nichols College

HJWPY - Lady Wolfpack: Rebecca Taylor (Senior, Defense, A) commits to Nichols College for fall of 2018

Rebecca Taylor, two-year veteran defenseman and assistant captain for the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, has officially committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Nichols College starting in fall of 2018. Becca’s commitment marks the first of the 2017-2018 season, and the 23rd in program history. Becca has brought a consistently positive attitude, exceptional work ethic, and a strong sense of leadership to the team. Joining the squad in 2016, Becca has been an anchor for the pack on defense, and has been a role model both on and off the ice. She commented that she is “so thankful for the Wolfpack and everything is has done for me. My coaches have helped me so much from the minute I started playing for the pack and this team has brought me to my goal of playing college hockey. The Wolfpack has made me both a better hockey player and a better leader and has prepared me for college hockey and the future.” Becca has worked tremendously hard towards her achievement of playing college hockey, and we wish her continued success as Nichols!
