Mass/Conn United Press Release

Hartford Jr. Wolfpack joins Mass/Conn United

ENFIELD, CT - February 12, 2017 – Mass/Conn United has announced the addition of the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack beginning with the 2017-’18 season. The Jr. Wolfpack join the Connecticut Jr. Huskies, Springfield Jr. Thunderbirds and New England Jr. Falcons in providing southern New England’s youth hockey players an all-inclusive development model.

Mass/Conn United was founded on the premise that youth hockey players, boys and girls, would benefit greatly from a development model that provides all aspects of training within one program.  Mass/Conn United will offer the area’s best coaching staff, advanced training for skaters and goalies, video review sessions, parent/player guidance, academic support and community relations opportunities.

Effective immediately, former National Hockey League player and current Jr. Wolfpack General Manager Bob Crawford joins Mass/Conn United founder Keith Hillebrecht in the role of Co-Director of Mass/Conn United.  In addition, Dan McCarthy and Tom O’Connor, both NHL draft picks and long-time professional players, bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Mass/Conn United in their roles as player development coaches.

Mass/Conn United will field boys’ teams in the Eastern Hockey Federation, the United States Premier Hockey League HP Youth Division and the Eastern Minor Hockey League, and girls’ teams in the New England Girls Hockey League. In addition, Mass/Conn United teams will have affiliations in the Connecticut Hockey Conference and Massachusetts Hockey.

"Mass/Conn United welcomes the addition of the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack." says Keith Hillebrecht, "When we set out to create an all-inclusive development model, our goal was to join with programs that shared our same focus on developing players.  Bob Crawford and his staff share those ideals.  We look forward to a long-standing relationship with the Jr. Wolfpack."

Bob Crawford says, "From the first time Keith and I spoke about the Mass/Conn United concept, it was clear that this is where we wanted the Jr. Wolfpack to be.  Having the area’s best youth programs working together towards a common goal is something southern New England hockey has been missing for a long time.  Developing youth hockey players and preparing them for the next level is the focus of Mass/Conn United”

The current members of Mass/Conn United have combined to place nearly 550 players into men’s and women’s NCAA Division I/III programs over the years, and have had over 40 players selected in the NHL draft. Three of the more prominent players to come through the programs are 3-time US Olympian and 2-time Stanley Cup winner Bill Guerin, Nick Bonino of the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins, and two-time US Olympian and current Merrimack College Women's Assistant Coach Kacey Bellamy.

Additional information regarding Mass/Conn United, including program details, tryout dates/times and coaching assignments, will be available in the coming days at massconnunited.org.

Mass/Conn United is committed to delivering the most comprehensive youth hockey program available to area youth. The scope and depth of our program will be second to none in creating an atmosphere that will: foster player self-confidence and build strong character. We will provide the most qualified professional staff available to instruct our players and offer programs that are designed for youth to learn and play the sport of ice hockey.  Our teams, regardless of level, will be structured to provide players with the opportunity for individual growth that will enable each participant to reach their maximum potential and help prepare them to succeed in life's competitive environment. The driving principle of this organization is our Commitment to Youth.
